Melbourne Airport has been named the Best Airport in Australia and the Pacific at the Skytrax World Airport Awards in Frankfurt overnight.
The awards which are voted on by passengers are the world’s largest airport customer satisfaction survey conducted across more than 550 airports.
It is the fourth time Melbourne Airport has been the recipient of the prestigious award with previous wins in 2020, 2021 and 2023.
Melbourne Airport CEO Lorie Argus said the award highlighted the incredible work of the entire airport team.
“Every decision we make has our passengers’ needs front of mind,” she said.
“In the past 12 months we’ve been proud to open new restaurants, retail outlets and toilets, while also planning for future growth with a new runway, new roads and other terminal enhancements.
“Whether you work as CEO or a cleaner, customer service or construction everyone at Melbourne airport is committed to giving our travellers the best experience we can through our ‘Stepping Forward’ program, which encourages everyone in the business to step forward and offer assistance to our passengers.
“Melbourne is one of the world’s most liveable cities and ensuring our airport reflects that is essential, that’s why our new T1 square upgrade has brought iconic Melbourne brands like Pope Joan and St Ali to the airport, because what’s more Melbourne than coffee?!
“We do know there is still a lot of work to do, and that’s why we are investing billions of dollars into key infrastructure upgrades over the coming years to ensure our airport remains a favourite airport destination for our passengers.
“There will be disruptions while we complete these works, but they are essential projects that will ensure we continue to grow in line with our city.
“Thank you to all of our passengers that made this award possible, it is truly humbling to be voted Australia and the Pacific’s best airport and we look forward to continuing to serve you.”
