Plan ahead: Allow extra travel time to Melbourne Airport

PSA: Centre Road will be fully closed to traffic for beam lifts as part of Naarm Way Stage 2 construction. Closure Times: Feb 5, 2025, 11 PM – 4 AM (Feb 6) Feb 6, 2025, 11 PM – 4 AM (Feb 7) Plan ahead and follow detour signs. If you’re heading to the airport over January to early March 2025, we encourage you to allow an extra 30 minutes for your journey due to potential delays caused by construction works in the Terminal 123 forecourt. Fire Impairment and Hot Works application process

Overview

Melbourne Airport has introduced a new process for Fire Impairment and Hot Works Permit applications. This process applies to all areas, excluding Airfield (beyond 5 meters of the Terminal building drip line). For Airfield Permits, please refer to the Airside Works Safety Policy.

This online form simplifies the application process, including documentation submission and understanding approvals or rejections. Key improvements include permit tracking, documentation prompts, and clearer payment instructions, reducing rework between submission and approval.

We've recently improved our security with Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA). If you're using a social account (Gmail, Outlook, Hotmail, Yahoo, etc.) to log in, please check our User Guide for an easy step-by-step tutorial on the login process.

Important: All applications must be submitted through this form with at least two (2) business days' notice.

How do I use the new form?

To help users with the new forms, we’ve created user guides and videos available on the Melbourne Airport Learning Management System (LMS). Search “Fire Impairment and Hot Works Permits” for:

  • Tutorials on creating and modifying applications
  • Guidance on workflow comprehension
  • Sample maps for reference
  • Reasons for potential application rejections
  • Instructions for using DocuSign

Accessing the LMS:

All guides, documents, and inductions are hosted on the LMS. If you don’t have an account, you’ll need to set one up. Instructions for account setup and accessing materials are available on the Using the APAC People Central Learning Management System page.
