Access cards

What is an access card?

An access card allows swipe access to Melbourne Airport areas at any access control door or points that are controlled by Melbourne Airport.

Access, similarly to an ASIC, is applied and received by confirmation of a current operational requirement. All access requests are investigated and approvals are sought before a decision to apply is made.

For some, their access card is their Melbourne Airport issued ASIC.

For others, they may have a separate card, issued by Melbourne Airport, that is their access card.

Who requires an access card?

If you have an ASIC issued by an Issuing Body other than Melbourne Airport and require access to sterile, secure or restricted space then you will be required to obtain an access card that runs alongside your ASIC. Your ASIC will also be required to be validated in the AusCheck portal.

If you solely require access to office or landside spaces, do not require an ASIC or are not required to comply with specific emergency plans then you can obtain an access card. There are different types of access cards depending on your operational requirement and whether it supports an ASIC or otherwise.

How to obtain an access card?

Please use the below link to download the required ID and Access application form.

If you are not an ASIC holder but require swipe access to any landside office space controlled by Melbourne Airport, you can apply for an Office Access Card using the same ID and Access Application Form.

An access card form must have wet, pen-to-paper, signatures (not photocopies or scans attached and printed) at all signature points; applicant and company signatory, and on-airport signatory if required.

You must complete the Fundamentals of Airport Awareness training; information can be located here. If you require assistance with the training, please email [email protected]. Please note that this email address is specific to enquiries about the learning and induction platform.

You must present a valid identity document along with your valid ASIC if required.

You can email the Security Services team at [email protected] if you have any queries.

There is a cost of $25 per access card, subject to change.
