Car parks are busy

ALL car parks are very busy over the Easter period, with limited drive-up spots available. Please consider alternative transport options. Please have your QR code ready for a smooth entry and exit. Our roads and car parks may have changed since your last visit. Due to ongoing construction in the T123 car park pick-up and drop-off areas, passengers should plan for potential delays of up to an hour during peak times. Learn about the Naarm Way Stage 2 project to plan ahead: https://www.melbourneairport.com.au/plan-ahead. To avoid congestion, we recommend using the equivalent pick-up and drop-off facilities at nearby Terminal 4 car park, just a short 10-minute walk from Terminals 1, 2, and 3. Simply drive to the Terminal 4 Car Park and proceed to Level 2 for drop-offs or Level 1 for pick-ups. Thank you for your patience.

New trolleys in 2025

New baggage trolleys arrive at Melbourne Airport

As Melbourne Airport experiences record-breaking international passenger numbers and the city continues to grow, we are committed to enhancing our infrastructure to meet these evolving demands. As part of our commitment to improving passenger experience, we are rolling out brand-new baggage trolleys and upgraded payment kiosks.

A major upgrade for passenger convenience

We are replacing our ageing baggage trolley infrastructure with 3,500 new trolleys. The initial roll out will see 2,600 trolleys deployed across terminals and car parks, accompanied by 22 newly installed intuitive cashless payment kiosks, strategically positioned to enhance accessibility.  This is a 16% increase in the number of kiosks placed across the airport.

Why the change?

Our current trolley kiosks have not been updated in over 20 years. This upgrade ensures that passengers benefit from modern, easy-to-use equipment that aligns with global airport standards.

Improved traveller experience

Our new baggage trolleys and payment kiosks offer a range of benefits:

New Baggage Trolleys

  • 35% lighter (15kg vs. 23kg), making them easier to manoeuvre
  • Durable aluminium build for long-lasting use
  • Near-silent rubber wheels for a smoother, quieter passenger experience

Intuitive Cashless Payment Kiosks

  • Larger 15-inch touchscreens for easy navigation
  • Enhanced payment options including WePay and Alipay
  • Reliable and user-friendly interface for a seamless rental process

What to expect after the upgrade

  • From 2 March 2025, the trolley hire fee will increase from $4.00 to $5.00 in domestic terminals, aligning with pricing at other major Australian airports.
  • Complimentary trolleys will continue to be available for international arrivals at Melbourne Airport.
  • Smarte Carte personnel will remain on-site at all terminals and car parks to ensure availability and assist passengers.
  • The old trolleys will either be broken down and recycled, or refurbished and used elsewhere. The old kiosks and trolley bays will also be broken down into parts and recycled.

This investment in passenger convenience is part of Melbourne Airport’s ongoing commitment to providing a world-class travel experience.

Thank you for your patience as we implement these exciting improvements!
