PSA: If you’re heading to the airport over January to early March 2025, we encourage you to allow an extra 30 minutes for your journey due to potential delays caused by construction works in the Terminal 123 forecourt. If you're picking up or dropping off loved ones, consider using Exit 19A and the Terminal 4 Car Park to avoid congestion in the Terminal 123 forecourt. We apologise for the inconvenience.

Overview

Victoria is growing, and so is Melbourne Airport.

We are embarking on a significant program of construction to ensure Melbourne Airport has capacity to serve the projected increases in population, exports and imports.

This works program will enhance our airfield, terminals and ground transport system, but we understand it may cause some inconvenience and ask for your understanding as we navigate through this exciting phase.

International terminal expansion

We're planning for the future of international travel at Melbourne Airport. With international travel at record highs, we are working closely with airlines to finalise the details of a major international terminal expansion to deliver increased terminal capacity and an enhanced passenger experience.

Third runway to increase capacity

We have received approval from the Federal Government to build a third runway. This will deliver much needed aviation infrastructure capacity for Victoria and help support thousands of new jobs.

New express road plus dedicated pick-up and drop-off zones

We’re building a more direct road from the Tullamarine Freeway for easier access to all terminals.

Better terminals for travellers

We are upgrading our terminals to improve the food and beverage options, baggage systems, rest areas and toilets to help make your trip as smooth as possible.

Better public transport

We are in discussions with Government to deliver better public transport options for Victorians.

Improved sustainability

We are building a bigger on-site solar farm to use and provide energy in a sustainable way.
