Overview
We’re continuing major works as part of Naarm Way Stage 2, a new road network designed to make access to Melbourne Airport easier in the future. While construction continues, there will be some changes to access and traffic conditions around the airport this week.
Please allow extra time for your journey and follow detour signs and staff directions on site.
Please refer to the map below, where each impact is labelled with a corresponding number for easy reference.
Terminal 1, 2 & 3 Forecourt
Day time changes
1A. Public Pickup Lane 1 and Lane 2 – Monday to Thursday off-peak lane closure from 19/01 – 22/01. Pedestrian detours in place.
Nighttime Works
1B. Taxi, Uber, Value Car Park Bus and Qantas Staff Bus (Carriageway 1) – Overnight closure from 1am to 6am on the following dates will affect kerbside transport:
• Tuesday 20 to Thursday 23 January
• Wednesday 28 to Friday 30 January
• Monday 2 to Friday 6 February
T1 and T2 Uber and Taxi ranks – During these closures, Terminal 1 and Terminal 2 Taxi and Uber will be moved to forecourt carriageway lane 3.
T1 Value Car Park – T1 bus stop will be at forecourt carriageway lane 2.
T1 Qantas Staff Bus – T1 Qantas Staff Bus stop will be at forecourt carriageway lane 2.
Public pick-up, Rideshare and SkyBus services will not be impacted (Note: Skybus will be escorted by CPB traffic controller through the site from 4am – 6am).
Terminal T123 Car Park
2. Lift Upgrades - continue until March 2026. Two lifts remain open in each lobby.
3. Access to Levels 3–6 -Take front lifts to Level 2, then follow signs to the rear lift lobby.
4. PARKROYAL: Level 2 Access and access from the terminal side of the building closed. Follow detour signage for access through the T123 carpark ground floor via the dedicated central Park Royal lifts.
5. Bay Closures - Around 2,400 bays closed.
6. Car Rental Returns Entry/ Exit –
- Enter via Centre Road, until mid 2026.
- Centre Road exit closed until August 2026
Terminal Drive / Arrivals Drive / Departures Drive
7. Arrival Drive - Reduced to three lanes until the end of February 2026.
8. Pedestrian Access from Value Carpark - Temporary detour in place till March 2026.
9. Departure Drive (T1 End): Single Lane closure until end of February 2026.
Business Carpark
10. Access Closed: Access remains closed.
Sunbury Road
11. We’re upgrading Sunbury Road to prepare for the future third runway. Expect intermittent lane closures and delays. Stay updated via the link below. Stay informed about changes and delays at this page.
Airport Drive
12. Daily slow lane closures between Naarm Way on-ramp and Centre Rd intersection and 10am to 5pm.
Tullamarine Freeway
13A. Tullamarine Freeway Citybound fast lane closure between APAC Drive and Mickleham Road till March 2026.
13B. Tullamarine Freeway Airport bound lane closure between Mickleham Road and Mercer Drive till March 2026.
Tips for Travellers
- Staff are available to assist in the forecourt area.
- Please allow up to 60 minutes of additional travel time due to detours, delays, and extended walking routes.
- For quicker pick-ups, use Terminal 4 Pick-Up Area to avoid congestion at T123.
