Melbourne Airport's January passenger traffic results

Feb 20, 2014

Melbourne Airport achieved 11 per cent international growth in January compared to the same period last year, to reach a record monthly total of 755,017 international passengers.

Melbourne Airport CEO, Mr Chris Woodruff, said that January was another record breaking month.

“Victoria is Australia’s event capital and our calendar of major global events and conferences play an important part in the economic and social well-being of our great state.”

“In January, boosted by The Australian Open and the start of Chinese New Year celebrations, we had more than 400,000 international passengers arrive, the highest number of international passengers we’ve ever had arrive in a single month,” said Mr Woodruff.

Domestic passengers grew by 2 per cent in January compared to January last year, taking total passengers to a new monthly record of 2.7 million passengers.
