Melbourne Airport Productivity Commission Inquiry
Oct 10, 2011
The Productivity Commission (PC) is currently inquiring into the economic regulation of airport services.
More information on the PC inquiry is available at http://www.pc.gov.au/projects/inquiry/airport-regulation
This includes the draft report issued by the PC in August, and submissions from various parties on the PC’s draft findings and recommendations.
Melbourne Airport’s submissions to the inquiry are also available from this website, including our response to the draft report. Melbourne Airport also participated in public hearings on the draft report which were held in early October.
In summary, Melbourne Airport believes that the current ‘light-handed’ regulatory regime has encouraged growth and investment in Australian airports, supported by the appropriate policy settings and regulatory intervention. Continuing with ‘light-handed’ regulation is the best way to support the future investment and growth of our airports, including Melbourne, and to deliver economic benefit to Melbourne and the state of Victoria.
