Melbourne Airport 2013 Master Plan

Melbourne Airport is planning for the future. As Melbourne and Victoria grow, so will demand for air travel. In coming years, Melbourne Airport will serve more passengers, new aircraft and more flights.

As part of its planning, Melbourne Airport has prepared its 2013 Master Plan. This document was approved by the Commonwealth Minister for Infrastructure and Regional Development, pursuant to Section 81 of the Airports Act 1996, on 18 December 2013.

Under the Airports Act 1996, Melbourne Airport is required every five years to prepare a Master Plan to guide the development of the airport for the next 20 years. The next Master Plan will be developed in 2018. The Master Plan includes development objectives, passenger and flight forecasts; land use and development plans; noise forecasts; flight paths; ground transport access and environmental impacts.

The vision outlined in the Master Plan incorporates feedback we received through the stakeholder engagement process that included 32 public meetings and information sessions, more than 100 briefings, advertisements, social media activity, and the publication of factsheets, a website section and an interactive noise tool.

In accordance with Section 86 of the Airports Act, the approved 2013 Melbourne Airport Master Plan was published on 6 February 2014 via the Melbourne Airport website. Hard copies of the 2013 Melbourne Airport Master Plan will be available for public viewing and purchase from late February at the office of Australia Pacific Airports (Melbourne) Pty Ltd, 2nd floor, T2 (International Terminal), Melbourne Airport between 9.00am and 5.00pm Monday to Friday.
