Melbourne Private Jet Base

MAJOR DEVELOPMENT PLAN (MDP)

Australia Pacific Airports (Melbourne) Pty Ltd (APAM), the operator of Melbourne Airport, in conjunction with Melbourne Aviation Precinct (MAP), has received approval for the development of a private jet base. Melbourne lacks a private jet base of the standard at other major cities of the world. The construction of the project presents an opportunity to attract further international business to Melbourne.

The project will incorporate the construction of a new purpose built jet hangar and prestige passenger terminal with associated infrastructure within the MAP site that is subleased from APAM at Melbourne Airport.

The project comprises:

  • purpose built private jet hangar with capacity for 17 private jets;
  • display hangar for a vintage DC3 aircraft;
  • prestige passenger terminal;
  • customs and security facilities;
  • workspace for staff;
  • hangar support office and storage space
  • basement car parking.

The development is located at the existing MAP Facility located at Operations Road.

The Minister for Infrastructure and Transport approved the Major Development Plan for the project on 11 September 2016.

The final Major Development Plan can be viewed here.

Copies of the MDP are also available for inspection and purchase by members of the public at the office of Australia Pacific Airports (Melbourne) Pty Ltd, 2nd floor, T2 (International Terminal) Melbourne Airport, telephone 9297 1600 between 8.30am and 6.00pm Monday to Friday for a period of 180 days.
