Melbourne Airport’s February passenger traffic results

Mar 20, 2014

Melbourne Airport achieved 9 per cent international growth in February compared to the same period last year, to reach 591,030 international passengers.

Melbourne Airport CEO, Chris Woodruff, said that growth was across all regions.

“North Asia continued to lead growth in February with the end of Chinese New Year celebrations boosting China’s figures. It was also really pleasing to see more traditional markets, such as Germany, the United Kingdom and the United States, growing strongly,” said Mr Woodruff.

“Japan is one of our key markets in North Asia, and this is despite the fact that there are no direct flights. As an increasingly popular destination for Victorians, we’re looking forward to further growth in the Japan-Melbourne market in the coming months as Jetstar commences their two new services.”

“We will continue to work with all of our airlines to deliver more choice and convenience for Victorians and visitors,” said Mr Woodruff.
