Melbourne Airport welcomes extra Tiger Airways' services to north Queensland

Oct 10, 2012

Melbourne Airport has welcomed the introduction by Tiger Airways of a new direct service between Melbourne and Mackay commencing December 2012, and the extension of its services for Cairns during the summer period.

Melbourne Airport CEO, Chris Woodruff, said Tiger Airways was making great strides in rebuilding its domestic operations.

“As the home of Tiger’s operations in Australia, we’re delighted to see them adding more services out of Melbourne, providing Victorians with more choice to more destinations,” Mr Woodruff said.

The new Melbourne-Mackay service will operate four times a week from 18 December, subject to regulatory approval.

The daily Melbourne-Cairns service will operate through the summer season until the end of March 2013.
