Strong domestic passenger growth in 2nd quarter 2006/2007

The second quarter of 2006/2007 has seen strong domestic and steady international passenger growth at Melbourne Airport.


Overall passenger numbers were up 6% for the second quarter of 2006/2007, compared to the same period last year.

The domestic passenger market in and out of Melbourne continues its strong growth, up 7% for the quarter – an additional 311,000 passengers – compared to the same period in 2005/2006.

International passenger growth remains positive, up 3% for the quarter, or 30,000 additional international passengers, compared to the same period in the previous year.

For the year to date, growth remains positive – a 4% increase in passengers compared to the first half of 2005/2006. Of note however, is the stalled growth of international passengers, which have seen virtually no growth from July 2006.
