Productivity Commission Inquiry
The Government has released the final report of the Productivity Commission inquiry into the economic regulation of airport services. The Australian Competition and Consumer Commission (ACCC) has also published its annual Airport Monitoring Report on airport pricing and quality of service for 2010-11. The final report and response is available on the Productivity Commission website.
Melbourne Airport believes that the current ‘light-handed' regulatory regime has encouraged growth and investment in Australian airports, supported by the appropriate policy settings and regulatory intervention. Continuing with ‘light-handed' regulation is the best way to support the future investment and growth in airports, including Melbourne, and to deliver economic benefit to Melbourne and the state of Victoria.
